Utah Academy of Engineering and Science

UtahAES is a non-profit, independent organization- our VISION is that Utah individuals with strong engineering and science backgrounds may lend their knowledge and wisdom to support the application of engineering and science for the betterment of Utah, the Nation and the World. And to generally promote these fields within Utah.

UtahAES does not advocate for specific positions but does respond to requests to share technical expertise and evidence-based assessments.

What is the Utah Academy of Engineering and Science?

UtahAES is a professional organization with Directors and Officers selected from its Members. Members are elected to the Utah Academy in recognition of outstanding achievement and having exhibited strong judgment and wisdom related to engineering and science. It is modeled and operated similarly in many ways to the US National Academies. Membership is limited to not more than 80 [living] Utah individuals.

What is the purpose of UtahAES?

to support the engineering and science professions within the State of Utah,

to provide a body of pre-screened experts in engineering and science that can provide independent, technical expertise (always on a non-paid, volunteer basis) when called upon,

to recognize outstanding Utah engineers and scientists whose work has benefited the community at large; and to promote Utah's contributions to the engineering and scientific communities,

to serve as a pre-screening for the US National Academies thereby facilitating Utah's engineers and scientists to advance as elected members of the US National Academies.

How is UtahAES organized?

UtahAES Members function as a volunteer group within the legal status of the Utah Academy of Engineering and Science, Inc. following the Corporation Bylaws.
